VideoDetective™ transforms shaky, blurry, low-resolution video into sharp images suitable for Law Enforcement and Security applications.

VideoDetective is available as a completely portable, stand-alone video lab, ideal for covert field surveillance, as well as for office use. VideoDetective stabilizes and enhances both live (real-time) and recorded video to clarify the images, allowing the results to be quickly distributed electronically to other agencies and departments.

Developed with input from two federal agencies - the Technology Support Working Group, and the Office of National Drug Control Policy - and from local law enforcement agencies, VideoDetective is a valuable addition to the crime-fighter’s toolkit.

CASE STUDY – Teaneck, NJ Police Department

After a series of brutal robbery/car-jackings in 2004, the Teaneck, NJ Police Department had collected video surveillance footage depicting the individual who had perpetrated the crimes. The department had recently acquired Pyramid Vision’s Video Detective solution through a Counterdrug Technology Assessment Center (CTAC) grant, and Detective Sergeant Chris Kurschner began digitally reviewing the footage with the intention of clarifying the view of the suspect. The ability to examine the video through a frame-by-frame process allowed Detective Sergeant Kurschner to observe unique clothing characteristics and mannerisms of the suspect, and ultimately, the suspect was arrested, tried and convicted of the crimes.

"Video Detective has allowed us to recover, process and review an increased amount of video media that we would not have been able to do before," said Detective Sergeant Kurschner. "It has reduced waiting time for the creation of enhanced, still images that we are able to disseminate to our officers; an advancement which has lead to additional leads and/or suspect identifications."
